It is with great sadness we share that our Board Chair Seymour Burchman passed away on January 24th after a short illness. Seymour joined our board of directors nearly four years ago and was installed as board chair in 2022.
His commitment to children, and specifically to the mission of Child’s Path, was unwavering and unmatched in our organization from day one. When there was a request for a fundraising match, Seymour was often the first to step up and lead by example—and with enthusiasm.
An astute businessman, Seymour not only contributed financially to Child’s Path, but also remained committed to help lead the organization during a transition period and help it grow. He was instrumental in building Child’s Path to where it is today. It was his grand vision to expand the organization and ensure every child in our community has access to high-quality early education.
He will be remembered for his passionate dedication, which included calls and emails at all hours to share ideas, as well as his signature style of a hoodie, ball cap, and big smile. He rarely took pictures, preferring to work quietly behind the scenes without fanfare.
Seymour will be missed dearly. We lost a great leader and champion of children. Please keep his family in your thoughts as they go through this difficult time. His family requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Child’s Path in his memory. Please take a moment to read about this champion of children in his obituary.
